"Every Child, Every Meal, Every Day Forward”

MISSION STATEMENT

The Early Nutrition Access Program (ENAP) aims to improve the health and well-being of internally displaced children ages 3-5 in Lebanon by increasing their daily fruit and vegetable consumption and reducing malnutrition. Through an evidence-based approach, ENAP works to create lasting positive impacts on children's physical, cognitive, and economic development while empowering families and communities to sustainably address nutritional challenges.

PROGRAM GOALS

  1. ENAP of Lebanon will improve nutrient intake among internally displaced children ages 3-5 in Lebanon.

  2. ENAP of Lebanon will decrease the prevalence of malnutrition and micronutrient deficiencies among internally displaced children ages 3-5 in Lebanon.

  3. ENAP of Lebanon will improve height-for-age growth indicators for participating children.

  4. ENAP of Lebanon will provide parents and caregivers with the knowledge, skills, and resources to maintain healthy diets for their children while stimulating the local agricultural economy and food system.

OBJECTIVES

PROCESS:

  1. Participants will gain knowledge, skills, and resources to maintain healthy diets for their children while stimulating the local agricultural economy and food system in Lebanon through the ENAP program. A pre/post intervention Knowledge, Attitude, and Practices (KAP) survey would be an appropriate instrument used to measure this outcome.

IMPACT

  1. Participants will improve nutrient intake by increasing the daily fruit and vegetable consumption of internally displaced children ages 3-5 in Lebanon by at least 2.5 servings per day. This objective would be most appropriately measured using a 24-hour dietary recall administered to parents/caregivers prior the start of the program and at the end of the program.

OUTCOME

  1. Participants will experience a 40% reduction in malnutrition and micronutrient deficiencies over 12 months, as measured using a weighing scale and stadiometer along with WHO Z-score charts (comparing weight-for-age, height-for-age, and weight-for-height to WHO child growth standards).

  2. Participants will enhance growth and development by improving height-for-age growth indicators with a target of 0.1-0.15 Z-score increase in mean height-for-age Z (HAZ) scores, measured using a stadiometer and WHO growth standards.
